International Day of the Seafarer 2017 – Celebrating the backbone of the industry

Back to news

This Sunday, June 25th marks the seventh year of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Day of the Seafarer. The theme for this year is “Seafarers Matter“, and we couldn’t agree more. As the shipping industry takes a moment to recognise over one million seafarers that operate the global fleet, Ardmore too wishes to celebrate the men and women that serve on our fleet around the globe.

We feel privileged to work with a diverse group of seafarers, all of whom share our passion for demonstrating operational excellence in everything we do. With their varied backgrounds and experiences, our seafarers are pivotal to our commercial and operational success.

Treating our seafarers with the upmost respect has been engrained in Ardmore’s values since our inception. We truly appreciate that by offering our crews with the best possible working conditions and a professionally-rewarding experience when sailing on our vessels, the better our company performs.

We are proud to work with over 1,000 seafarers across a 27-strong fleet who take great pride in their roles, who act as our ambassadors around the globe and who uphold the ‘Ardmore Standard’ every day, which means exhibiting our core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect in everything they do.

As we continue to grow, we understand that maintaining the personal, hands-on relationship with all our ships and seastaff will become more challenging. However, our commitment to supporting our seafarers and upholding high standards of crew welfare is something that will always reside at the heart of Ardmore’s values.

So, as we mark the IMO’s Day of the Seafarer, we would like to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’, not just to all seafarers on Ardmore vessels, but to everyone in the worldwide seafaring community.
