Ardmore Shipping (Asia) Pte. Ltd is proud to have received the MSI-ASI (Maritime Sector Incentive – Approved International Shipping Enterprise) Award. Granted by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to international shipping companies with a demonstrable commitment to expanding their operations in Singapore, the award was presented by Mrs. Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Ministry of Transport at the International Maritime Awards dinner.

This recognition by the Singapore MPA is a significant milestone for Ardmore’s Singapore office, which opened in November 2015. The seven-strong team headed by Celio Wakamatsu, Chartering Manager (Asia/Middle East), has steadily grown Ardmore’s presence in one of the world’s leading shipping hubs and today provides a focal point for the company’s spot trading and commercial operations.

Commenting after receiving the award, Celio Wakamatsu stated: “This award is a tremendous accolade for Ardmore Shipping and we are very grateful to the MPA. It is testament to the resources that we have invested to build our presence and grow our team here in Singapore, as well as being a powerful statement of our long-term commitment to Singapore as an integral part of our global network.”

To obtain this award, Ardmore had to successfully demonstrate the company’s commitment to expanding its shipping operations in Singapore, including its economic contributions and the size of its team, as well as the overall strategic and commercial decision-making functions that will be delivered by Ardmore within Singapore. Coincidentally during this busy 12th Singapore Maritime Week, Ardmore Shipping (Asia) booked their 100th spot voyage.

As Ardmore Shipping continues to grow, the company looks forward to continued expansion in Singapore and to taking its modern efficient fleet of 27 mid-size product and chemical tanker vessels to the next level.
